Sorprendida / Surprised

Feliz Navidad!!!

I got the last letter from my doctor today and it was surprising, my SGF is now 16.

It is just crazy that from staying put at 19 since last April went to 21 when I went to emergency like three weeks ago and now is just on 16.

What I imagined has happened, the doctor has started the hole process for the transplant and she calculates it would be happening more close to February 2013 than to April as we first thought.

But never later than April.

It seems to be it would depend a lot on the results of my next test in January when I will visit my kidney team nurse, Wendy.

It has been quiet a sock to see that 16 in the report, on one side I was thinking that If I wouldn’t be so lucky to have a donor I would now need to start preparing for Haemodialysis…

And that brings back lots of memories from my dad.

It is weird that at the same time I still feel the same, nothing abnormal, nothing that shows what my body is obviously going through, my energy is still very high and I am as happy and positive as always…

I have no idea if it is irresponsible or crazy, but I am not afraid or overwhelmed, It just seems another step in my way.

I always thought once I would get to this point something would change in me… but it seems… I would still be as “little crazy” as always 

Meanwhile… we keep getting ready for the holidays… Merry Christmas!!

Mi trasplante / My transplant

So, my doctor appointment came and went...

My doctor said that we need to wait for the gynaecologist to see what there is with me and if something needs to be treated or if we get from her the ok to go ahead with the transplant.

Next appointment with my nephrologist is on the 20th of February. Meanwhile I will have the other things sorted out.

Surprising was that my estimated glomerular filtration was on 21, after being on 19 since April this year so she ordered new test to make sure that was a right level or not.

The most important thing from the visit was that it was agreed that if it all goes ok and there are no other complications coming up the transplant will go ahead in April 2013.

12 - 12 - 2012

Today is not a normal day, and is not just because is the last special date we will see until 01.01.2101, but because I have my doctor appointment today.

I have been getting all my documents ready to take with me including the report from my A&E visit last week about my quyst rupture and the antibiotics they gave me as well as the pain killer.

But above all this I really hope today we will find out some more info about our transplant, it seems to be we need to start planning it, since it can take up to six months to get the legal permission and the last trials done to my donor, my hubby.

I thought I would be much more nervous but at the moment my main concern is what I would be wearing since we have minus four degrees in London today. Yesterday after work on my way back home missed the bus and had to wait at minus three at the stop, I thought I was going to freeze hehehe

I promise to come back as soon as I can and tell what happens in my doctor visit today.

Mi médico de cabecera / My GP

Hoy ando algo mosqueada.

I am really upset today. My kidney doctor sent a letter to my GP to refer me to a gynaecologist, since I have been having bleedings and problems with my periods the last two months.

Last 26th of November I called the GP nurse and asked If I needed to go by or if they could arrange it for me. She said they didn’t have the letter so I would have to go by to see my GP.

The earlier appointment was for Wednesday the 28th.

So, I had to walk in the cold weather to the practice for 20 minutes and wait an hour to be seen, just to hear: Oh, yessssssss, I have seen this letter. Do not worry we will arrange it for you. Which hospital do you want to go?

So I said Hammersmith since my kidney doctor is there. But I was worried nothing would be done since he was changing his clothes while talking to me!!!

He said, phone me on Monday next week, everything will be ready.

I phoned today and was told by the nurse that she didn’t know what I was talking about, to call later around 1 pm to talk again. Did so and got my GP on the line, telling me he couldn’t arrange it since he didn’t know which hospital I wanted to go to.

They told me to wait for their call between today and tomorrow to go by, again, and pick up a letter to take to the hospital to make the appointment.

So, I am almost certain that my kidney doctor will see me next week Wednesday and I will still not have been seen my a gynaecologist.
